Essential oils are safe if used correctly and can be beneficial when your pet is overly hyper or has an annoying flea and tick problem. Aromatic oils are also beneficial for adding to pet care products like shampoos, conditioners, body washes and sprays. We’ve put together a few of our favorite recipes that you can create on your own and for different purposes.
Calming Bed Spray
This spray can be made using a spray bottle of any size to spray on your pet’s bed to bring calm and ease of mind. Shake well and spray 1-2 times as needed. All you need to create this blend is:
- Spray bottle
- 300mL of purified water
- 5 drops of Lavender essential oil
- 3 drops of Frankincense essential oil
You can’t go wrong with Lavender for pets. Its aroma is calming for the active and excited pet. Adding a few drops of Frankincense works to quiet the mind. Shake well before use.

You can either add the below essential oils to your pet’s shampoo, or create your own using the ingredients below. All you need to create this blend is:
- A reusable shampoo bottle
- 500mL water
- 2 tbsp of Castile Soap
- 3 drops Rosemary essential oil
- 3 drops Sweet Marjoram essential oil
- 2 drops Lavender essential oil
- 2 drops Eucalyptus essential oil
Rosemary is an effective flea repellent, while Sweet Marjoram heals irritated skin and kills bad bacteria and fungal growth. Beyond Lavender’s exceptional aromatherapeutic properties, it is also an excellent antiseptic. Eucalyptus stimulates relaxation and purifies skin.
Natural Skin and Fur Conditioner
It is normal for pets to experience itchy skin, but this DIY essential oil recipe can help alleviate symptoms of dry, itchy skin. All you need to create this blend is:
- Reusable shampoo or conditioner bottle
- 2 tbsp Hair Therapy carrier oil by Way of Will
- 5 drops of Lavender essential oil
- 4 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil
- 2 drops of Peppermint essential oil
Way of Will’s Hair Therapy carrier oil is rich in Vitamin E to promote healthy fur and hair growth. Lavender cleans the fur, while leaving a lovely floral scent. Eucalyptus digs deep into the skin to wipe out excess dirt and Peppermint gives the skin a cool, tingly feeling while pairing with Lavender to leave your pet feeling fresh and clean. Essential Oils are an amazing solution to benefit your pet. Just make sure to use the scents that are safe and won’t harm your little friend.
